Location: Lucy's Café & Bistro
Pay: £13.00 per hour
We're looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at Lucy's Café & Bistro.
This is primarily a kitchen-based role, supporting the day-to-day running of our busy café. However, we're a small, close-knit team, so everyone helps each other out. During quieter periods or when needed, you'll also assist with front of house by serving customers, making coffees and ensuring the café runs smoothly.
This position is temporary to cover the school holidays. However, a new permanent role will become available from October for the right candidate, making this a great opportunity to join our team and demonstrate what you can bring.
No two days are the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys variety, works well under pressure and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Your role will include
- Preparing food and assisting with service during busy periods
- Supporting the chefs with kitchen prep and organisation
- Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and well organised
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Clearing, cleaning and resetting tables
- Serving customers with a friendly and professional attitude when required
- Making coffees (barista experience is preferred, but training can be provided)
- Opening and closing the café confidently
- Working as part of a team to deliver excellent food and service every day
What we're looking for
- At least 2 years' experience working in a café or restaurant
- At least 1 year's kitchen experience
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Barista experience is an advantage but not essential
- Clean, organised and able to work methodically
- Calm under pressure with excellent time management
- A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- Reliable, punctual and a strong team player
- Confident taking responsibility when opening and closing the café
Availability Required
- Monday: 5:30pm – 9:15pm
- Thursday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
- Friday: 4:15pm – 9:30pm
- Saturday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Sunday: 9:00am – 2:30pm
Hours can be flexible for the right candidate, and weekend shifts can be shared on a rota.
