Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our dynamic team, working at our operational sites across the Southeast of England. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of mobile plant equipment, including excavators, shovels, and other heavy machinery. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably to support our operational goals, minimising machine downtime.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge machinery in a fast-paced environment across multiple waste management sites across the South East of England.
This role is well suited to someone with strong mechanical knowledge, proven diagnostic and fault-finding skills, along with experience working with hydraulic systems, electrical systems and heavy plant machinery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile plant equipment such as excavators, shredders, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Perform repairs and replacement works to restore equipment functionality.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble, disassemble, and repair machinery components.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used, along with any ongoing issues.
- Support the installation of new equipment or upgrades, identify areas to improve equipment reliability & reduce machine downtime.
- Communicate effectively with team members & contractors regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Experience working within the waste management industry, construction or a similar background
- Ability to prioritise workloads & work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Experience maintaining and repairing mobile plant or heavy machinery
- A solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve faults
- Hands-on experience with assembly, disassembly, and repair of excavators, shredders, or similar machinery.
- A qualification in Plant maintenance, Mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g. NVQ Level 3) would be advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.

Working Hours:
- Monday - Saturday, flexibility required
- Start & finish times will be flexible depending on requirements, working on the basis of a 50 hour week
Pay: £40,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
