Junior Warehouse & Events Trainee
About the Role
Create AV is a small, friendly Audio Visual company supplying equipment and technical support to exhibitions, conferences, corporate events and live events across the UK.
We are looking for a Junior Warehouse & Events Trainee to join our team. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with equipment, being part of a small team and learning new skills.
You don't need previous AV experience. We are looking for someone reliable, practical and willing to learn. You'll spend time both in the warehouse preparing equipment and on-site helping with event setups and pack-downs.
What You'll Be Doing
Warehouse
- Preparing AV equipment for events and deliveries
- Checking, cleaning and packing equipment
- Loading and unloading vans
- Keeping the warehouse organised and tidy
- Returning and checking equipment after events
- Helping with stock checks and basic equipment maintenance
- Preparing cables, screens, speakers and other AV equipment for hire
Events
- Assisting with the delivery and setup of AV equipment
- Helping to position screens, Audio systems and other equipment
- Running and securing cables neatly and safely
- Assisting the team during event setups and pack-downs
- Loading and unloading equipment at venues
- Working alongside more experienced members of the team and learning how events are delivered
Working Hours
Our work is event-based, so working hours can vary depending on the event schedule, especially in busy periods.
During quieter periods, hours are generally more regular. However, at busy times of the year, working hours can be longer and will include early mornings, late finishes, evenings and weekends.
The events industry can be demanding during peak periods, and we need someone who is comfortable with this and prepared to work additional hours when required. Hours will vary depending on workload, with appropriate time off and scheduling around busy periods. Ovetime is paid in addition to basic salary for hours outside of standard working hours.
Flexibility is an important part of the role.
The Person We're Looking For
This is an entry-level position, so attitude is more important than experience.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Practical and hands-on
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting and moving equipment
- Organised and takes pride in keeping things tidy
- Happy working in a warehouse as well as at event venues
- Comfortable working as part of a small team
- Willing to learn about AV equipment and events
- Able to follow instructions and work safely
- Friendly and professional when dealing with venues and clients
- Flexible regarding working hours when events require it
A full driving licence would be an advantage, but is not essential.
What We Don't Expect
You don't need to be an experienced AV technician and you don't need extensive knowledge of sound, lighting or video equipment.
We will provide training and help you develop your skills as you gain experience.
This is a hands-on trainee position, with the opportunity to progress into a more technical AV role over time for the right person.
What We Offer
- Full training and support
- Hands-on experience in the live events industry
- The opportunity to learn about professional AV equipment
- Varied work between the warehouse and event venues
- A friendly working environment within a small team
- Opportunities to develop and progress with the company
- Varied event work across exhibitions, conferences and corporate events
