Bar Manager – Job Description
The Bar Manager is responsible for the full day-to-day operation of the bar and front-of-house at Harleyford Golf Club. This includes staff management, stock control, service delivery, cleanliness, and supporting all events to ensure a consistently high standard for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Front of House & Staffing
- Manage all front-of-house staff on a daily basis
- Prepare and maintain weekly staff rotas to ensure full operational cover, including weekends and events
- Recruit, train, and onboard new front-of-house team members
- Supervise staff during service, ensuring efficient and professional delivery at all times
- Address performance issues and maintain team standards
Bar Operations & Stock
- Take full responsibility for ordering all bar stock and supplies
- Manage stock levels across the bar and halfway house, ensuring availability while controlling waste and costs
- Complete regular stock takes and maintain accurate records
- Monitor product quality and consistency of service
Service Delivery
- Oversee and actively participate in daily bar service
- Lead front-of-house service during busy periods
- Take responsibility for all food and beverage service during:
- Clubhouse service
- Banquets
- Conferences
- Private parties and events
- Ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently at all times
Standards & Environment
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all front-of-house areas, including the bar, clubhouse, and service areas
- Take ownership of front-of-house presentation and overall member experience
- Ensure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed and maintained
Clubhouse Maintenance
- Monitor the general condition of the clubhouse and front-of-house areas
- Report and follow up on maintenance issues
- Ensure deliveries, storage areas, and back-of-house areas are kept organised
Compliance
- Ensure all staff follow licensing laws, food safety, and health & safety regulations
- Maintain proper procedures and documentation where required
Events
- Support and deliver all club events alongside the Operations & Events Manager
- Take responsibility for front-of-house and bar operations during events
- Ensure adequate staffing, stock, and preparation for each event
- Be present and hands-on during larger functions
Working Hours:
- Approx. 40 hours per week
- 5 days out of 7, including regular weekend work
- Bar operating hours: 07:00 – 21:00 daily
- Multiple events each week
- Occasional late finishes (typically once every two weeks)
Pay: £29,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
