THE ROLE
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Goods In Operative to join our day shift team on a full-time, permanent basis.
You will be responsible for receiving, checking and processing incoming pharmaceutical stock, ensuring goods are handled accurately, safely and efficiently before being put away or prepared for distribution.
The role will involve unloading vehicles, checking deliveries against paperwork, recording stock accurately and maintaining an organised warehouse environment. You must hold a valid forklift licence and a full UK driving licence, as you may occasionally be required to support our delivery operation as a relief driver.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in accuracy, safety and teamwork and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries safely and efficiently.
- Check goods against delivery notes and relevant documentation.
- Inspect deliveries for shortages, damage or discrepancies and report any issues promptly.
- Accurately record incoming stock using company systems and procedures.
- Safely move, store and organise pharmaceutical products within the warehouse.
- Operate forklift equipment in accordance with training, company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Ensure stock is stored correctly and handled in line with pharmaceutical distribution standards.
- Support stock rotation and help identify products requiring priority handling.
- Keep the goods-in area and wider warehouse clean, tidy and organised.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles when required.
- Work collaboratively with warehouse, transport and operations teams to support smooth daily operations.
- Provide delivery driver support when required, including covering relief delivery runs to community pharmacies.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness when undertaking driving duties.
- Report any stock, equipment, vehicle or operational issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow company policies and procedures relating to health and safety, manual handling, security and pharmaceutical product handling.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid forklift licence and practical experience operating a forklift.
- Full UK driving licence with a driving record acceptable to the company’s insurers.
- Previous goods-in, warehouse or logistics experience.
- Strong attention to detail when checking deliveries and recording stock.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work methodically under pressure.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high standards.
- Ability to carry out manual handling and physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
- Willingness to support delivery operations when required.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in a goods-in or stock-control position.
- Experience using warehouse management or stock-control systems.
- Previous multi-drop delivery driving experience.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and safe working practices.
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, healthcare or another regulated distribution environment.
- Knowledge of stock rotation, batch control or temperature-sensitive products.
WORKING HOURS
Day shift – Monday to Friday
- Hours: 7:00am–4:00pm
