Job description- Youth Support Worker - Ockley, Surrey.
The Amber Foundation offers supported accommodation to homeless, unemployed and disadvantaged young people (aged 18 to 30) who are facing multiple disadvantage including lack of training, education and employment, addiction and substance misuse problems, mental health difficulties and may have been involved in crime and offending behaviour.
We are ideally looking to recruit a Youth Support Worker to cover Saturday day and Sunday night each week. 14.40 hrs pw. However, we would consider if interested in only one of these shifts.
Day shift -9am to 5.30pm with 60 minute unpaid lunchbreak.
Night Shift ( Sleep in ) - 5pm to 9.15am.
This role is based in Ockley, Surrey. RH5 5NG.
£11, 904.56 pa (includes a £40 sleep in allowance for each night shifts)
Responsible to - Senior Team Leader and Service Manager
We deliver a full-time and residential employability and well-being programme to young people designed to support them into independent accommodation and employment, training or education by the end of their stay.
The role of the Youth Support worker is to work proactively, creatively and effectively alongside our young people to develop their skills and strengths and help them to gain the confidence they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will be expected to work on a group and one-to-one basis with our residents and offer informal support, advice and guidance. As a Youth Support Worker you will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the centre by providing consistency and reliability. This will involve recording incidents, accidents and safeguarding issues, completing domestic and operational tasks and sharing information with relevant colleagues. You will also undertake housing management and health and safety-related tasks as required.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the activities of youth participants
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to youth
- Plan and implement engaging and educational activities for youth
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and program participation
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive environment
Experience:
- Previous experience working with youth in a similar setting is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of youth development principles and best practices
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours and resolve conflicts effectively
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules
