At South Devon College, we’re looking for a caring, proactive and inspiring Learning Support Worker to join our supportive SEND team and help our students with High Needs unlock their full potential.

You’ll work closely with students who need additional support to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their goals. Whether you’re helping in the classroom, providing one-to-one support, or celebrating those “lightbulb moments”, you’ll play a vital role in helping students feel they truly belong.
This role reflects the growing importance of inclusive education, ensuring all students, including the most vulnerable, can learn, participate, and thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing
No two days are the same, but you’ll be:
- Supporting students in lessons to access the curriculum and achieve their study programme
- Helping develop Maths, English, academic and practical skills
- Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning
- Supporting small group work and preparing learning resources
- Building strong, positive relationships that empower students
- Monitoring attendance, progress and wellbeing
- Using person-centred approaches to promote independence
- Applying evidence-informed support strategies (modelling, prompting, scaffolding)
- Contributing to reviews and working with SENDCOs, tutors and support teams
- Supporting exam access arrangements and invigilating where required
- Providing flexible support across curriculum areas, campuses and key college events
