Clark Wood are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Accounts Manager to join a respected firm of Chartered Accountants based in Thornbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA / ACCA qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a leadership-focused role. The successful candidate will lead an established Owner Managed Business (OMB) team, manage a varied client portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth of the practice.
The role offers genuine progression opportunities, including a potential pathway to Director level, for an ambitious accountant looking to develop their career.
The Role
As Senior Accounts Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the OMB accounts team, including Accounts Seniors and Semi Seniors.
- Managing a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and entrepreneurial clients.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships.
- Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and tax compliance work.
- Providing commercial accounting advice and supporting clients with their business needs.
- Overseeing workflow, deadlines and quality standards across the team.
- Supporting junior team members through coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
- Working closely with Partners on client strategy, advisory opportunities and practice development.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification.
- Significant experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Previous experience managing a client portfolio at Manager level.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax compliance and advisory services.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing a team.
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive and client-focused approach.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical advice to business owners.
