Youth Connect South West (YCSW) is a young people's charity in Bath and North East Somerset. We provide a range of services to support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow, and become the people they want to be.
Youth Connect South West is dedicated to helping children, young people and vulnerable adults achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Alternative Education team and support young people aged 16-19 (up to 25 with an EHCP) to overcome barriers, build resilience and successfully engage in learning and progression opportunities.
As a Wellbeing Practitioner, you will work directly with young people participating in post-16 Alternative Education programmes, providing early intervention, emotional wellbeing support and practical guidance.
Using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, you will help young people:

Improve their emotional wellbeing and confidence

Develop resilience and independence

Overcome barriers to education and training

Increase attendance and engagement in learning

Access support services and community opportunities

Progress towards employment, apprenticeships, further education and adulthood
You will deliver both one-to-one and group support, work closely with education staff, and help ensure young people receive the support they need to thrive.

Essential Requirements

Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification, Level 3 Youth Work qualification, or equivalent experience supporting young people

Experience of working with young people aged 16-19 (or up to 25 with an EHCP)

Experience delivering one-to-one support

Understanding of emotional wellbeing and factors affecting young people's participation in education

Experience of safeguarding and multi-agency working
-
Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills
-
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Ability to travel independently across the region
Desirable
-
Experience within alternative provision or post-16 education
-
Group facilitation experience

Mental Health First Aid qualification

Counselling Skills qualification
-
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice

Experience supporting young people at risk of becoming NEET

Full driving licence and access to own vehicle

Salary Information:
We use job evaluation to assess the relative value of roles based on educational standards, responsibility, accountability, complexity, and autonomy. This evaluation determines the role’s position within our pay structure.
Starting pay for new starters is set within the evaluated salary range for the role and is determined by objective criteria including relevant experience, skills and market data. Job evaluation ensures that pay decisions are consistent and defensible.
