CQC Registered Manager
Location: Torquay
Salary: £40,564 – £45,647 per annum, pro rata
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
An established care provider is looking to appoint an experienced CQC Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of regulated care services in the Torquay area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and compassionate care professional with strong leadership skills, good knowledge of CQC regulations, and experience managing staff teams within adult social care. The service supports individuals with a range of care and support needs, including personal care, emotional wellbeing, medication support and complex care requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nominated Individual and senior leadership team to ensure high-quality, person-centred care is delivered in line with regulatory standards, contractual requirements and best practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the regulated service
- Ensuring care plans are person-centred, regularly reviewed and tailored to individual needs
- Promoting a culture of safety, dignity, respect and high-quality care
- Overseeing the delivery of personal care, medication support, meal preparation and emotional wellbeing support
- Maintaining compliance with CQC regulations and relevant health and social care legislation
- Implementing and monitoring quality assurance systems, audits and improvement plans
- Preparing for and responding to CQC inspections
- Keeping up to date with legislative changes, best practice and sector guidance
- Recruiting, training, supervising and appraising care staff
- Providing leadership, support and mentorship to the wider care team
- Organising rotas, monitoring attendance and ensuring appropriate staffing cover
- Leading team meetings and supporting effective communication across the service
- Liaising with safeguarding leads and ensuring concerns are reported and managed appropriately
- Completing risk assessments for individuals and care environments
- Liaising with families, healthcare professionals, social workers, commissioners and local authority representatives
- Building positive relationships with the local community and partner organisations
- Managing budgets, resources and staff teams effectively
Requirements:
- Registered with CQC as a manager, or eligible to register
- Experience managing a care service, ideally within domiciliary care, supported living, residential care or complex care
- Relevant health and social care qualification, or willingness to enrol, such as Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations, KLOEs and fundamental standards
- Knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation
- Experience managing staff teams, rotas, compliance, quality assurance and service improvement
- Ability to develop and review care plans, risk assessments and care documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good IT skills and experience using care management/reporting systems
- Confident leadership style with the ability to motivate, support and develop staff
- Compassionate, person-centred and professional approach
- Resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively under pressure
Desirable experience:
- Additional qualifications in business management or health and social care
- Experience in turnaround management or service improvement
- Knowledge of local authority procedures, commissioning and contracting requirements
- Experience implementing change and driving continuous improvement
This role would suit an experienced Registered Manager, Care Manager, Domiciliary Care Manager, Supported Living Manager or Deputy Manager who is ready to step into a CQC-registered leadership role.
