Specialist SEND Group is looking for a dedicated and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and reach their full potential within an inclusive classroom environment.
This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday during school hours, where you will provide tailored support to learners both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated learning and personalised strategies.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and independence.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans and individual targets.
- Use visual aids, sensory strategies and other interventions to encourage engagement and participation.
- Promote positive behaviour using a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Help create an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable but not essential with relevant experience).
- Has a patient, caring and resilient nature.
- Can build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Is confident supporting children with a range of additional needs.
- Is committed to helping every child achieve their individual potential.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to provide satisfactory references covering the last two years.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.

Pay: £13.00-£13.80 per hour
