The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician to join our busy and growing independent garage.
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop, carrying out diagnostics and repairs to a high standard, while helping to ensure customers receive a professional, efficient and high-quality service.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician looking to take the next step in their career. You'll work closely with the management team and help develop the workshop as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs to a high standard.
- Diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Supporting and mentoring other technicians where required.
- Assisting with allocating and prioritising workshop jobs.
- Helping ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
- Carrying out quality control checks on completed repairs.
- Assisting with MOT preparation and repairs.
- Liaising with customers when required to explain technical issues.
- Supporting the ordering of parts and ensuring efficient workshop organisation.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and professional working environment.
- Helping improve workshop efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a vehicle technician.
- Excellent mechanical, diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working within an independent garage, dealership or fast-fit environment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable (but not essential)
- MOT Tester qualification.
- Experience using Bosch diagnostics and auto electrical knowledge.
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising other technicians.
