On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a Project Lead for a 12 month contract based in Derby.
Please note this is a hybrid position in which you would work onsite 3 days per week and work remotely 2 days per week.
Job description - the role
- Lead the delivery of multiple engineering projects supporting critical component life extension and maturity programmes within a highly regulated engineering environment.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical, schedule, and business objectives.
- Drive effective project planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration to support long-term product lifecycle and certification requirements.
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.
- Coordinate Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).
- Define, refine, and deliver project scope, objectives, schedules, and key milestones.
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans using Primavera P6.
- Monitor project progress against schedule, quality, cost, and technical performance targets.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, planning methodologies, and team effectiveness.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, building strong working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proven experience as a Project Lead, Project Manager, or similar role delivering complex engineering or technical projects within a highly regulated industry.
- Strong project delivery experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrable expertise using Primavera P6 for project planning, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Experience identifying, managing, and mitigating project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams in a matrix environment.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Aerospace industry experience, ideally within gas turbine, propulsion, engine development, or engine life extension programmes.
- Formal Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Agile planning and project delivery methodologies.
- Experience supporting engine modifications, upgrades, product maturity, or life extension programmes.
- Familiarity with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) methodologies.
