Right now, We are looking for a warm, reliable, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team across our care homes.
In this rewarding role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our residents enjoy nutritious, well-presented meals in a safe, hygienic, and homely environment. Working under the direction of the Head Chef, you will help deliver a high-quality, person-centred dining experience that respects the individual preferences, dietary needs, and cultural requirements of every resident..
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness standards, and ensure smooth kitchen operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their culinary skills within a professional environment. Prior experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to gain practical kitchen experience and contribute to a vibrant team.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with food preparation, plating, serving, and clearing meals
- Washing and storing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintaining cleanliness of surfaces, floors, and equipment to the highest standards
- Following food rotation, storage, and allergen procedures
- Carrying out temperature checks and maintaining accurate records
- Disposing of waste safely and hygienically
- Supporting a positive and dignified dining experience for all residents
- Following all food safety, infection control, and COSHH policies
Skills
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2)
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food-service environment
- A good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
- Reliable, organised, and able to work under direction
- NVQ Level 2 in Catering or Hospitality
- Experience in a care home or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of dementia-friendly catering
- Familiarity with CQC food standards
