Job summary
We are looking to expand our clinical team and recruit additional Health Care Support Workers to help deliver the care delivered at Elmleigh. We are looking for compassionate individuals with a genuine interest in mental health recovery. Previous experience is not required; however, applicants should have a good understanding of the clinical environment, mental illness and the role that they are applying for.
Elmleigh is a 33 bedded adult acute mental health hospital situated in Havant caring for people with a functional mental illness - such as depression, a personality disorder or schizophrenia. Elmleigh is made up of two wards, Sapphire Ward (Male Ward) and Ruby Ward (Female Ward). In addition to these acute wards, Elmleigh also holds a place of safety in our urgent care zone.
We also have a vacancies at Hollybank. Its a 15 bedded Adult Mental Health (AMH) Rehabilitation unit, dedicated to delivering compassionate, holistic care to individuals with enduring mental health conditions and complex needs. Operating 24 hours a day, our service is designed to support patients on their journey toward recovery and reintegration into the community. We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic staff to join our small and friendly team. This role involves working a flexible shift pattern, including nights and escorting patients on community leave. As a valued member of our team, you will provide responsive, recovery focused care.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
- To observe, report and record changes in the service user's physical health,
mental health and behaviour.
- To give and receive clear messages by telephone and or personal contact.
- To provide the necessary physical care to service users to help them
complete daily living activities, i.e., personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake,
clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations.
- To provide social activities, emotional support and stability to service users to
ensure effective engagement whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- To provide escort duties to the service user under the direction of the nurse
in charge.
- To carry out observations as per the individual care plans and service user
needs, in line with HIOW Policy.
- To participate in and co-facilitate therapeutic and social engagement group
work.
- To undertake prescribed physical observations as follows; blood pressure,
temperature, pulse, respirations, blood sugars, urinalysis, weight and height
and report results to the nurse in charge.
