Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Lecturer to join a specialist educational provision supporting young adults aged 16–25. This is a full-time, 3-week contract starting ASAP. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored teaching programmes to learners with a range of complex needs, with a strong focus on developing independence, communication, social skills, and preparing learners for life beyond education. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a flexible approach, and experience working within SEND or further education settings.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEND learners aged 16–25
- Support the development of independence, communication skills, and life skills aligned to Preparing for Adulthood outcomes
- Assess learner progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies to ensure positive outcomes
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and external professionals to support holistic learner development
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and behavioural observations in line with policy
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes confidence and engagement
- Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times and promote a positive, respectful learning culture
Qualifications
- Experience working with students with SEND, ideally within FE or specialist provision
- Experience teaching SEND learners
- Must hold a DBS on the Update Service
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to plan, organise, and adapt learning effectively to meet individual needs
- Recognised teaching qualification or relevant experience in education/SEND settings
