Job Summary
Focus: Market strategy, product lifecycle, technical specifications, factory sourcing, and
regulatory certification.
This role is responsible for the "what" and the "where from." The Director of Product &
Compliance identifies market trends, sources the right manufacturing partners (primarily in
Asia or Europe), defines the technical specifications of the LVT products (such as wear layer
thickness, rigid core composition, and acoustic properties), and ensures that every product
brought to market meets stringent UK and international building and environmental
standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management: Defining the product roadmap, identifying
gaps in the current Plusfloor portfolio, and managing the lifecycle of existing ranges
from conception to discontinuation.
- Supplier Sourcing & Factory Auditing: Identifying, vetting, and selecting
manufacturing partners. Conducting factory audits to ensure quality control, ethical
manufacturing, and technical capabilities align with Plusfloor's standards.
- Technical Specification: Defining the exact construction of the LVT/SPC products,
including wear layer thickness (e.g., 0.3mm to 0.7mm), core density, backing layers, and
locking systems.
- Regulatory Compliance & Certification: Ensuring all products hold the necessary
certifications for the UK commercial and residential markets. This includes managing
UKCA marking, CE marking (EN 14041), Fire Classification (Bfl-s1), and indoor air quality
certifications such as FloorScore, GREENGUARD Gold, or Eurofins IAC.
- Market & Trend Analysis: Staying ahead of design trends, competitor offerings, and
technological advancements in resilient flooring to ensure Plusfloor remains an
innovative brand.
Likely Day-to-Day Tasks
- Reviewing and approving physical product samples, decors, and embossing textures
from overseas factories.
- Drafting and updating technical data sheets (TDS) and Declaration of Performance
(DoP) documents for UKCA/CE compliance.
- Liaising with third-party testing laboratories (e.g., SGS, Intertek) to arrange slip
resistance, acoustic, and fire testing for new product lines.
- Negotiating pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and exclusivity agreements
with factory representatives.
- Attending international flooring exhibitions (e.g., Domotex, Surfaces) to identify new
manufacturing technologies and design trends.
- Working closely with the marketing team to ensure technical product claims are
accurate and effectively communicated in brochures and online.
- Managing the renewal of essential certifications like FloorScore to ensure continuous
compliance for commercial specifications.
Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
