SSO Group is a fast-growing logistics business made up of two complementary companies: SSO Logistics (transport, warehousing and contract logistics and SSO International Forwarding (customs clearance and freight forwarding). We're proud of what we've built, ambitious about where we're going, and expanding at pace. As we grow, so does the demand on our finance function. We're now looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of the finance team across both businesses from our Haydock HQ.
The role
Reporting into the Group accountant you'll lead and develop a small finance team, keeping the day-to-day running smoothly while helping us tighten and improve as we scale. You'll be the go-to person for purchase ledger and credit control, making sure suppliers are paid correctly and on time, cash comes in when it should, and the numbers behind it all stand up to scrutiny. This is a genuine people-management role with plenty of scope to shape process and make your mark.
What you'll be doing
Managing and developing the finance team across SSOL and SSOIF, including purchase ledger and credit control
Overseeing the end-to-end purchase ledger process — supplier invoices, approvals, payment runs and supplier queries
Leading credit control to keep aged debt down and cash flow healthy
Owning day-to-day finance operations, bank reconciliations and month-end support Producing timely, accurate reporting and helping improve the way we do things as we grow
Working closely with operations, commercial and senior management to keep finance joined up with the wider business
What we're looking for
Essential
Proven experience managing a finance team
Strong hands on background in both purchase ledger and credit control
Confident, organised and comfortable in a fast-paced, growing business
Good systems skills and an eye for detail-
A proactive, roll-your-sleeves-up attitude
Desirable
Experience in logistics, transport, warehousing or freight forwarding (a real plus, but not essential)
Experience with Xero- AAT qualified / part-qualified, or qualified by experience
What we offer- Salary of £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience-
