George Hill is a leading independent timber and building supplies provider in the North West, with branches in Oldham, Manchester, Bolton and Nelson. Founded in 1919 we’re family run and have been for 106 years. We are currently looking for a Yard operative to work within our team at our busy Nelson branch.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve customers promptly and efficiently in the yard and on the counter
- Unload and load incoming and outgoing vehicles
- Maintain and organise the yard stock
- Keep the yard clean and tidy
- Operating forklift truck
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assign materials to the proper yard location
- Any other duties that may be required by the Company
Skills and Qualities
- Experience within the timber and building industry
- FLT license preferable but not essential as full training will be given
- Good numeracy and communication skills
- Organised and able to work on own initiative, as well as in a team
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain simple records
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform work required
Hours
- Monday -Friday 8am – 4.30pm
- Saturday 8am – 12pm
- Job Type: Full-time
