We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our growing team on a freelance basis to undertake Sensory Integration (SI) assessments for children and young people across the UK.
This is a flexible, fully remote opportunity for a clinician with expertise in sensory processing, neurodiversity, and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). You will undertake comprehensive assessments, produce high-quality reports, and provide practical, evidence-informed recommendations for children, families, educational settings, and commissioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive paediatric occupational therapy assessments remotely.
- Undertake and interpret Sensory Integration assessments.
- Gather information from parents, carers, schools, and other professionals.
- Assess sensory processing needs and their impact on daily functioning, education, participation, and wellbeing.
- Produce high-quality, clinically robust reports and recommendations.
- Provide neuroaffirming, strengths-based recommendations tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Work independently while adhering to organisational governance, safeguarding, and confidentiality requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Significant post-qualification experience working with children and young people.
- Demonstrable experience conducting paediatric occupational therapy assessments and report writing.
- Training and experience in Sensory Integration assessment and intervention.
- Experience supporting children and young people with:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Sensory processing differences
- Neurodevelopmental conditions
- Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profiles
- Strong understanding of neurodiversity-affirming practice.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively.
Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Professional indemnity insurance.
- Secure home-working environment and reliable internet access.
- Availability for an immediate start.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Postgraduate Sensory Integration qualifications or certification.
- Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
- Experience contributing to EHCP assessments and reports.
- Experience working within NHS, independent practice, or commissioned services.
- Additional training relating to PDA, autism, trauma-informed practice, or neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
