About RMC Digital Print
RMC Digital Print is one of the UK’s leading trade print and wayfinding specialists, based right here in Hull. We produce wide-format graphics - everything from banners and flex-face signage skins to exhibition stands, truck sides and specialist wayfinding systems for clients across the country. Our customers are sign makers, installers, exhibition and event companies, architects and creative studios who rely on us to deliver quality at speed, every single time.
Our factory on Manchester Street is a busy, fast-moving place. Print runs go through the machines around the clock, materials arrive every day, and orders leave the building just as quickly. The pace is relentless and that’s exactly how we like it. We’re proud of what we’ve built, and we’re looking for someone who will share that pride.
The Role
This is a hands-on, pivotal role at the heart of everything we do. As Factory Operative & Stock Controller, you’ll be responsible for keeping the operation running smoothly from the moment stock arrives at our doors to the moment it’s safely put away and ready for production.
Our factory handles an enormous variety of materials: large rolls of PVC and vinyl, rigid substrates like foamex and dibond and components for our wayfinding and modular sign systems. These materials are heavy, often bulky, and need to be handled with care, stored correctly, and located quickly. When the production team needs something, they need it now so precision and organisation are everything.
Stock arrives with us daily. That means no two mornings are the same, and the ability to work at pace without cutting corners is essential. You’ll need your wits about you, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine commitment to getting things right.
What You’ll Be Doing
Moving & Managing Stock
You’ll be operating a forklift truck daily to receive incoming deliveries, move stock around the factory and yard, and ensure everything is in the right place at the right time. Deliveries arrive every day, so you’ll need to be on top of incoming goods, checking quantities and condition against delivery notes, and getting materials put away promptly and accurately. Safe handling is non-negotiable: our materials are large, heavy and often oddly shaped, and everything must be stored correctly to protect both the stock and your colleagues.
Keeping Records & Controlling Stock
You’ll own the accuracy of our stock records. That means logging every movement- in and out - on our stock management system, keeping an eye on levels and flagging when things are running low, and carrying out regular stock counts to make sure what’s on the system matches what’s on the shelves. Given how fast stock moves through our factory, keeping on top of this is crucial. You’ll need to be methodical and consistent, even on the busiest days.
Ordering & Working with the Admin Team
You’ll work closely with our admin team to make sure stock is ordered before it runs out. Where you’re authorised to do so, you may also place orders directly with suppliers — so being comfortable picking up the phone or firing off an email is part of the job. You’ll need to keep track of outstanding orders and flag anything delayed so that production is never left waiting.
Keeping the Factory & Yard Shipshape
A tidy factory is a safe factory and at RMC, we take both seriously. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a clean, well-organised environment in both the factory and the yard, ensuring waste is disposed of correctly and that everything has a place. If you notice a racking issue, a maintenance problem, or anything that doesn’t look right, you’ll be the first to flag it.
Health & Safety Champion
This isn’t a token title, we genuinely need someone who takes H&S seriously and leads by example every day. You’ll be responsible for making sure colleagues and visitors are wearing the right PPE in the factory and yard, contributing to and reviewing risk assessments, and ensuring our equipment — including the FLT — is subject to proper pre-use checks. Near misses and hazards should be reported promptly, and you’ll play an active part in investigation and improvement. We’re a growing business and this role is central to building a culture where safety is everyone’s business.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not looking for someone who just wants to turn up and pick up a wage. We need someone who takes real ownership of their space, who’ll notice when something’s not right and sort it without being asked, who’ll treat our stock with care, and who’ll bring energy and reliability to the role every single day.
