We are seeking a reliable and organised Container Control Operative to join our busy container depot operation in Felixstowe. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate control, tracking and processing of containers moving through the depot while maintaining excellent communication with customers, drivers and operational teams.
Reporting to the Transport & Container Control Manager. Working within a fast-paced logistics environment, you will be responsible for container administration, stock control, gate transactions, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the depot.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday:

Shift 1: 06:00 – 15:00

Shift 2: 10:00 – 19:00
Flexibility to cover operational requirements may occasionally be required.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and control container movements within the depot management system.

Accurately record container arrivals, departures, inspections, and storage locations.

Liaise with drivers, shipping lines, transport companies, customers, and depot personnel.

Process gate transactions and relevant documentation.
-
Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate any discrepancies.

Ensure all data is entered accurately and within required timescales.

Support container release and collection processes.

Produce operational reports as required.
-
Respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.

Assist with planning and coordinating container movements to maximise yard efficiency.

Comply with company health, safety, environmental and security procedures.

Work closely with depot, transport and operations teams to ensure service levels are achieved.
Skills & Experience:

Strong administrative and data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a shipping, container, transport, freight forwarding, haulage or logistics-related role.

Previous experience working within a container depot, port, shipping line, or logistics operation.

Knowledge of container control systems and depot management software.
