About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer to join our Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional or experienced lecturer to inspire the next generation of tradespeople.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of further education and apprenticeship programmes. You will support learners in developing their practical and theoretical skills, prepare apprentices for End-Point Assessment (EPA), and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the curriculum.
You will play a key part in creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment and ensuring students achieve their full potential in both classroom and workshop settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging teaching and learning across carpentry and joinery programmes
- Prepare lesson plans, learning materials and assess student work
- Support apprentices to successfully reach gateway and complete EPA
- Contribute to curriculum development and course leadership activities
- Manage the classroom and workshop environment to ensure effective learning
- Monitor student progress, providing guidance, mentoring and support
- Contribute to recruitment, enrolment and achievement of learner targets
- Participate in quality assurance, course reviews and departmental planning
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievement
Essential Criteria
- Relevant carpentry and joinery qualifications or substantial industry experience
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Experience of teaching or training within FE, HE or industry settings
- Strong knowledge of carpentry and joinery practices and standards
- Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above
