We need help to collect our charity boxes from locations around the Warminster and surrounding area.
We are looking for someone who could volunteer for a few hours a month, who has a full UK driving license and has use of their own vehicle.
This is a rewarding and very flexible volunteering opportunity with hours to suit.
Travel will be reimbursed at the HMRC rate (currently 55p per mile). This vital role will allow us to continue collecting donations so we can fund hospital helipads. Our aim is clear and urgent: to ensure air ambulance patients can land seconds from specialist hospital care, which in an emergency can often be the difference between life and death.
Our HELP Appeal is the only charity in the UK dedicated to funding NHS hospital helipads. Since 2009, we have funded 55 hospital helipads across the country, which have already supported over 35,000 landings. Each of these landings represents a patient brought directly to an Emergency Department or Major Trauma Centre without the delay and risk caused by an off‑site landing and secondary road transfer.
Air ambulances are now an essential part of emergency care, but without a helipad close to A&E, much of their benefit is lost. The ability to land a helicopter just moments from specialist clinicians, diagnostic imaging and emergency surgery is crucial—every second counts, and a hospital helipad ensures the quickest, closest and safest access to lifesaving treatment.
The helipads which we have funded — including ground‑level and rooftop facilities — enable critically ill and injured patients to reach trauma teams, neurosurgeons, cardiac specialists and paediatric emergency units without avoidable delay, day and night.
Despite the national importance of this work, we receive no Government or National Lottery funding and rely entirely on charitable support to fund new helipads and essential upgrades where they are needed most.
Charity boxes play an important part in both our fundraising and awareness of our HELP Appeal. This volunteer role is essential for the long-term support of our charity. We can provide expenses and can provide formal and hands-on training together with a range of support material.
