Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of traditional and contemporary sushi preparation techniques, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing a variety of sushi dishes, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and assisting with menu development to delight our customers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a wide range of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organisation in the sushi preparation area in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and rotated appropriately to maintain freshness.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate supply needs to management in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in developing new sushi recipes and menu items to keep offerings innovative and appealing.
- Follow all health and safety protocols diligently, including proper handling of raw fish and other ingredients.
- Train junior team members on sushi preparation techniques and safety procedures as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a busy restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation techniques such as nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and temaki.
- Certification in food safety or HACCP is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality.
- A passion for Japanese cuisine and a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
