Job Title: Youth Support Worker
Reports to: Team Leader/Deputy Manager / Registered Manager

Salary: £34,500
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people aged 16–18 years living in supported accommodation, enabling them to develop independence skills, achieve positive outcomes, and successfully transition into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
- Promote the safety, welfare, and well-being of young people at all times.
- Support young people in achieving the goals identified within their support plans.
- Encourage participation in education, training, employment, and community activities.
- Promote independence through practical support with budgeting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and maintaining accommodation.
- Support young people to attend appointments and access relevant services.
Safeguarding and Welfare
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people in accordance with company policies and statutory guidance.
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns, missing-from-home incidents, and any risks to the appropriate persons.
- Maintain professional boundaries and act as a positive role model.
- Support young people to manage challenging situations and make informed decisions.
Record Keeping and Administration
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including daily logs, incident reports, key work sessions, and support notes.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR requirements.
- Participate in handovers and contribute to effective communication within the team.
Partnership Working
- Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, education providers, health professionals, families, and other external agencies.
- Attend meetings, reviews, and training sessions as required.
General Duties
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Participate in supervision, appraisal, and continuous professional development.
- Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts where required.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR requirements.
- Participate in handovers and contribute to effective communication within the team.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce, Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
- Previous experience within supported accommodation or children's services.
- Training in Safeguarding, Child Protection, Prevent, Missing Children, First Aid, and Behaviour Management.
