This new role requires an enthusiastic and innovative population health professional, who is passionate about embedding prevention in an acute trust through strategic working, use of data and analytics, AI and research. The postholder will be a qualified Public Health Consultant with experience in population health management, digital infrastructure and data platforms.
The postholder will be part of the Population Health at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

This new role is key in implementing the Trust’s population health & preventative care ambitions through the intelligent use of data, analytics & digital tools. They will provide leadership on the use of predictive modelling, risk stratification & AI‑enabled analytics with the aim of improving outcomes, streamlining care, & reducing avoidable activity. The postholder will also support the development of proportionate data access & linkage processes, promote best practice in information governance, & help clinical teams adopt digital & data‑driven approaches that enhance prevention & patient engagement.
They will be responsible for delivering the population health research strategy, working in close collaboration with academic, digital and system partners. They will help integrate digital tools and advanced analytics into research and evaluation programmes, strengthening the evidence base for preventative care and population health improvement.
The postholder will work closely with the Chief Clinical Information Officer and clinical informatics teams, with the data and digital teams and with strategic delivery programmes to ensure that population health insights are aligned with clinical workflows, digital priorities and operational needs. The population health team is accountable to the Population Health and Equitable Access Committee and Chief Medical Officer.
The postholder will not have any initial direct line management responsibilities but will be expected to oversee researchers who may be recruited and to provide project supervision to public health registrars and population health fellows.
The personal qualities required are to be an excellent communicator with a strong background in data, analytics, and the use of digital tools in healthcare population health settings including the use of AI in the NHS.
