More than just another welding job
If you enjoy fabrication but do not want to spend every day making the same component on a production line, this could be the role for you.
We are looking for an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our small workshop team in Ruthin. We design and manufacture a wide range of bespoke container conversions, meaning the work changes regularly and each project presents a different challenge.
One week you could be helping to create a specialist COSHH store; the next you may be building a football stand, workshop, welfare unit, equipment store, or another completely bespoke conversion.
You will work as part of a small, experienced group of welders where individual craftsmanship matters and you can see a complete project develop from an ordinary shipping container into a finished product.
What makes this role different?
- A small welding team—not a production line
- Varied projects rather than repetitive batch work
- The opportunity to build complete, finished products
- Interesting fabrication challenges and bespoke designs
- A practical workshop environment where your experience and ideas are valued
- A well-established, family-run North Wales business
- Monday-to-Friday daytime working
The work will include
- MIG welding and general steel fabrication
- Modifying shipping containers to customer specifications
- Cutting openings and fitting steel frames, doors, windows and hatches
- Manufacturing steps, barriers, shelving, bunds and other fabricated components
- Reading drawings, measurements and job specifications
- Setting out work accurately before cutting and fabrication
- Working safely with grinders, cutting equipment and workshop machinery
- Checking the quality and finish of your own work
- Working with the team to solve practical fabrication challenges
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical MIG welding and fabrication experience
- Can measure, mark out, cut, fit and weld accurately
- Takes pride in producing strong, tidy and well-finished work
- Can work independently and as part of a small team
- Enjoys variety and solving practical problems
- Is dependable and maintains good attendance
- Understands the importance of workshop safety and quality
- Is willing to contribute to different projects rather than being restricted to one repetitive task
Experience in container conversion, structural steelwork, vehicle body building, agricultural fabrication or similar work would be useful, but specific container experience is not essential.
