Testronix Ltd is looking for a reliable and motivated Construction Materials Technician to join our team in Carlisle.
The role will involve sampling and testing construction materials, both on site and within the laboratory, to ensure they meet relevant specifications, standards and customer requirements. This is a practical position suited to someone who enjoys varied work, takes pride in accurate results and is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience in construction materials testing would be beneficial, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out sampling and testing of construction materials, including concrete, aggregates, soils and asphalt.
- Complete laboratory and site-based testing in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
- Accurately record test data and prepare worksheets and associated documentation.
- Maintain the traceability and identification of samples throughout the testing process.
- Ensure equipment is used correctly and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Follow company quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.
- Travel to customer sites across Cumbria and surrounding areas when required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, site personnel and colleagues.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Support the laboratory team with general operational duties as required.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate should have:
- A practical and methodical approach to work.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate records.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage daily workloads.
- A willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Basic computer skills.
- CSCS card
- A full UK driving licence.
- Company Van
Experience within construction, civil engineering, laboratory testing or materials testing would be advantageous. Relevant qualifications or experience with British and European test standards would also be beneficial but are not essential.

Working Hours
Normal working hours will be 40 Hours, Monday to Friday. Some early starts, overtime or occasional weekend work may be required depending on customer and site requirements.
