Legal Secretary Wills & Probate

The Role
As a Legal Secretary within our Probate Department, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to solicitors handling probate, estate administration, wills and lasting powers of attorney matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio and copy typing of correspondence, legal documents and reports.
- Preparing probate applications and related documentation.
- Opening and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures.
- Managing diaries, arranging appointments and scheduling meetings.
- Handling telephone enquiries and liaising with clients, beneficiaries and third parties.
- Preparing bills and assisting with the administration of client matters.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post and emails.
- Providing general administrative support to the Probate team.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a Probate or Private Client department.
- Excellent typing and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Professional and confidential approach to handling sensitive information.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience using legal case management systems.
- Knowledge of probate procedures and estate administration.
- Experience working within a solicitors' practice.
