Emergency Breakdown & Vehicle Recovery Driver (7.5T–15T)
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced and reliable Recovery Truck Drivers to provide emergency roadside assistance and vehicle recovery services. The role involves responding to breakdowns and accidents, safely loading, transporting, and recovering vehicles using 7.5T to 15T recovery trucks, while delivering a professional and customer-focused service under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdown and recovery call-outs
- Operate 7.5T–15T recovery trucks safely and efficiently
- Load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles using winches, skates, dollies, and lifting equipment
- Recover vehicles involved in breakdowns, accidents, or roadside incidents
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure equipment is maintained and roadworthy
- Complete job documentation, reports, and digital job updates accurately
- Communicate clearly with control, customers, police, and highway authorities
- Provide excellent customer service, reassuring customers in stressful situations
- Follow all health & safety, traffic, and company procedures at all times
- Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays (rota-based)
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence with C1 (7.5T) or C (Class 2) entitlement
- Driver CPC (preferred / required depending on role)
- Previous vehicle recovery or roadside assistance experience (preferred)
- Good knowledge of safe loading and recovery techniques
- Strong understanding of road safety and traffic management
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Calm, professional, and confident under pressure
- Good communication and customer service skills
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Temporary
Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour
