Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Zen Educate are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional and multiple learning needs in a specialist educational setting.
This role involves supporting children and young people with a range of complex needs, which may include autism, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, and medical or sensory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and feel safe and supported in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex learning and physical needs
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and care plans
- Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and engagement in lessons
- Help with personal care where required
- Use a calm and patient approach to support behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with complex needs, SEN, or in care/support roles (preferred)
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient attitude
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to support personal care if required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
