About Us
BCH Civils Ltd is a growing civil engineering and utilities company with a large fleet of vans, supporting our operations.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanic Fitter to join our team and help maintain the reliability, safety, and compliance of our vehicle fleet.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of company vehicles and equipment, ensuring all fleet assets remain roadworthy and compliant with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on company vans.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance checks.
- Manage and rectify reported vehicle defects in a timely manner.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed to a high standard and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and legal requirements.
- Update and maintain fleet management systems with vehicle defects, repair records, servicing schedules, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with drivers, transport managers, and external suppliers regarding vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Assist in maintaining workshop standards, tools, and equipment.
- Support vehicle compliance and safety inspections.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanic Fitter, Vehicle Technician, or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Vans and light commercial vehicles
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Experience using maintenance management or fleet management systems.
- Knowledge of defect reporting procedures and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- IRTEC accreditation.
- Experience within the construction, civils, utilities and transport industry.

Pay: £15.00-£22.00 per hour
