Day Warehouse & Operations Supervisor

C & D South West is looking for a dedicated Day Warehouse & Operations Supervisor to oversee and drive the efficiency of our daytime warehouse operations at our Martock depot. This role is designed for a proactive, organised leader who excels at managing daily workflows, supervising a hands-on team, and maintaining impeccable administrative accuracy.
As the anchor of our day shift, you will be responsible for overseeing the flow of inbound and outbound freight, managing team performance on the floor, and ensuring our digital systems perfectly match physical reality.
Role Purpose
The Day Warehouse & Operations Supervisor is a key driver of our daily operational success. You will ensure that daytime receiving, storage, and dispatch activities are executed safely and efficiently, team resources are utilised effectively, and all digital records are kept up to date in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Supervision: Leading, motivating, and organizing the warehouse team to achieve daily operational targets while maintaining high morale and productivity.
- Inbound & Outbound Management: Overseeing the loading and unloading of vehicles throughout the day, ensuring all freight is checked, documented correctly, and stored in the correct locations.
- Warehouse Administration: Managing day-to-day documentation for freight movement, ensuring all manifests are accurate and every pallet is accounted for.
- System Management: Keeping the TMS (Transport Management System) and Pallet Network portals fully updated with real-time data, including processing PODs and delivery paperwork.
- Discrepancy & Quality Control: Identifying, logging, and resolving any damages, misroutes, or loading discrepancies immediately to protect the business.
- Driver & Office Liaison: Coordinating effectively with incoming/outgoing drivers, handling paperwork debriefs, and maintaining a seamless line of communication with the transport office.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring the warehouse remains a safe, clean, and organised environment, promoting safe working practices at all times.
Candidate Profile & SkillsEssential:
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience supervising or leading a team within a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Confidence using Google Mail, Word, Excel, and navigating Transport Management Systems (TMS) or warehouse management software.
- Attention to Detail: A "right first time" mindset,crucial for maintaining accuracy in inventory and dispatch records during peak hours.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate between the warehouse floor, office staff, and drivers.
Highly Desirable:
- Logistics Experience: Strong background in a transport office, pallet network, or busy distribution center.
- Forklift License: A valid Counterbalance/Reach truck license to actively assist the team with loading/unloading during busy periods.
