About us
Matcha is having a moment. But we think what's happening is much bigger than a trend. Just as specialty coffee transformed what people expect from a cup of coffee, we're seeing the same shift happen in tea. Consumers are becoming more interested in quality, provenance and how their tea is made, and as a result, cafés are increasingly replacing cheap commodity powders with better alternatives.
brut tea was founded in London in 2024 by Joyce (ex-TikTok) and Raphael (Forbes 30 under 30, 2x founder), who left their careers in tech to retrain as tea sommeliers and build a different kind of tea company.
"Brut" means raw, natural and unfiltered. That's how we approach tea: sourcing directly and carefully, letting provenance and terroir speak for themselves, and presenting tea in a way that feels relevant to how people drink today.
In two years, we've grown from an idea into a brand supplying 100+ cafés and venues across the UK, alongside a growing online community. Now we're entering our next chapter: building brut tea into a consumer brand centred around creativity, community and connection. We're looking for someone who shares our passion and wants to help us build it.
About the Role
We're looking for an entrepreneurial, highly organised and proactive Founder’s Associate to work directly with our founders and help us build brut tea from the ground up. You'll work closely with the founders across business operations, retail, events, research and special projects, taking ideas from “we should do this” to “it's done.”
You'll get a front-row seat to how an early-stage consumer brand is built, while taking real ownership of projects that directly impact the business.
You might spend one day improving an operational process, the next researching a new market opportunity, and another helping us run a pop-up or coordinate staff.
We're a lean, fast-moving team, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, learns quickly, takes initiative and gets things done.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the founders on high-priority projects: turning ideas into action and helping drive projects from start to finish
- Support day-to-day business operations, including suppliers, logistics, inventory, processes and administrative tasks
- Research markets, competitors and new opportunities to help inform business and growth decisions
- Support retail and café operations, including pop-ups, launches, tastings and other customer-facing events
- Coordinate events and activations with cafés, partners and other venues
- Support team operations, including coordinating part-time staff, schedules and day-to-day tasks
You Might Be a Fit If You…
- Are entrepreneurial, proactive and naturally curious - you don't wait to be told what to do
- Are highly organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail
- Are prepared to work in a flexible, fast-moving startup environment where priorities can change quickly
- Enjoy figuring things out and taking ownership of problems from start to finish
- Have strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Have an interest in consumer brands, food & beverage, retail or startups
- Have experience in the hospitality industry, food & drinks or CPG industry - a big plus
- Have a creative or media background (e.g. graphics design) – a plus, but not essential
- Have previous startup experience - preferred, but not essential
- Are fluent in English; Chinese/Mandarin is a plus
What You’ll Gain
- Work directly with the founders and get an inside view of how a consumer brand is built from the ground up
- Real ownership of projects that have a direct impact on a growing business
- Direct mentorship from founders with backgrounds in TikTok and consumer startups
- The opportunity to develop strong entrepreneurial, commercial and problem-solving skills
- Company merch. Think branded teaware, and our staff-only private label clothing line
- Free & discounted access to exclusive Brut Tea events – matcha tastings and more!
- Potential for a longer-term role if it's a great match
