Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading our kitchen operations. The successful candidate will be passionate about fresh food, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be committed to delivering consistently high-quality dishes while helping develop the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Prepare and cook high-quality breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes to company standards.
Supervise and motivate kitchen staff during service.
Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served consistently.
Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety standards.
Assist with stock control, ordering, and reducing food waste.
Help manage kitchen rotas and ensure efficient staffing levels.
Train, coach, and support junior kitchen team members.
Monitor food quality and ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.
Step into the Head Chef role during periods of absence.
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie ready to step up.
Experience in a busy café, brunch, or casual dining environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Good understanding of food safety and HACCP procedures.
Passion for fresh, seasonal food and attention to detail.
Ability to work calmly under pressure.
Flexible approach to working weekends and bank holidays.
Essential Requirements
Food Hygiene Level 2 (minimum).
Right to work in the UK.
Proven experience in a professional kitchen.
