We're looking for a motivated and reliable General Operative to join our team supporting essential drainage network projects across the Southern Water region. This is a hands-on role where you'll play an important part in maintaining critical infrastructure that helps protect communities and the environment.
Vacancy Introduction
As a General Operative, you will carry out drainage and connectivity survey activities, including dye testing and inspections across domestic and commercial properties. Working closely with supervisors and project teams, you'll ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard whilst following company procedures and health and safety requirements.
You'll be responsible for gathering and recording site information using handheld devices, completing relevant documentation, carrying out daily site and vehicle safety checks, and contributing to the delivery of project objectives. The role involves working outdoors in a variety of environments and occasionally participating in a call-out rota. Above all, you'll be committed to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and members of the public.
Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a special purpose joint venture established to deliver wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. We focus on keeping sewer networks operating efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency response and rehabilitation works. Our capability is underpinned by a substantial fleet of specialist vehicles including vacuum tankers, jetting units and CCTV survey equipment, supported by advanced technology for rapid diagnostics and effective solutions. With a reputation for safety, reliability and technical expertise, Cappagh Browne plays a critical role in protecting communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

Experience working within drainage, sewer network, utilities, construction, or a similar operational environment.

A strong commitment to health and safety and safe working practices.

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The ability to follow instructions, use initiative, and work with minimal supervision.

Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately complete records and documentation.

A full UK driving licence.

NRSWA Streetworks accreditation (essential). Confined Space Awareness and Asbestos Awareness qualifications are advantageous.
