Self-Employed EPC and Pulse Test Assessor

The opportunity
Atlas Compliance is looking for a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor who is also able to conduct Pulse airtightness tests at residential properties.
We have secured a substantial volume of ongoing work and can provide regular allocations of pre-arranged surveys. This opportunity would suit a reliable assessor looking for a consistent pipeline of work without having to source their own.
An initial workload of approximately 75 combined surveys per month is anticipated, subject to client demand, location, availability and performance.
Responsibilities
The role will involve visiting residential properties to complete the required EPC assessment and Pulse airtightness test during the same appointment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Attending pre-arranged appointments at residential properties
- Conducting domestic energy assessments using the current RdSAP methodology
- Collecting accurate information about the property’s construction, dimensions, heating, insulation and energy-efficiency features
- Taking the photographs and supporting evidence required for the assessment
- Carrying out low-pressure airtightness tests using Pulse testing equipment
- Recording and submitting accurate Pulse test results
- Completing and lodging EPC assessments through your accreditation scheme
- Uploading all required assessment information and supporting evidence within the agreed timescales
- Checking submissions for accuracy and completeness
- Responding promptly to reasonable quality-control queries or correction requests
- Communicating professionally with residents and the Atlas Compliance team
- Managing allocated appointments efficiently and maintaining reliable attendance
Essential requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessor qualification
- Maintain current accreditation with an approved Domestic Energy Assessor scheme
- Be qualified or appropriately trained to conduct Level 1 domestic airtightness testing
- Be competent in using Pulse low-pressure airtightness testing equipment
- Be familiar with the current RdSAP methodology
- Be able to produce accurate assessments and supporting evidence
- Have access to a reliable vehicle
- Be able to travel between allocated residential properties
- Be registered, or prepared to register, as self-employed
- Communicate professionally and meet agreed submission deadlines
Desirable experience
The following would be advantageous but is not essential:
- Existing membership of ATTMA, the Elmhurst Airtightness Scheme or another recognised scheme
- Previous experience using Pulse testing equipment
- Experience completing domestic EPC assessments
- Familiarity with RdSAP 10
- Experience completing several residential assessments per day
Payment and working arrangement
At an illustrative volume of 75 accepted surveys per month, this would produce gross self-employed revenue of approximately £7,125 per month before tax and business expenses.
Atlas Compliance does not pay mileage, fuel, travel or other business expenses. Assessors are responsible for their own vehicle, travel costs, tax, National Insurance and other costs associated with operating on a self-employed basis.
The workload and earnings figures are illustrative and are not guaranteed. Actual earnings will depend on the number of surveys offered, accepted, completed and approved.
