We are seeking a warm, community-minded Pub Manager to run the daily operations of our village pub. You will be the heart of the venue, building strong relationships with local residents, leading a friendly team, and maintaining a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The ideal candidate balances excellent customer service with strong business sense to keep the pub thriving as a key community hub.
Core Responsibilities
- Community Engagement: Act as the welcoming face of the pub, greeting regulars by name and fostering a warm, inclusive neighborhood atmosphere.
- Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and rota a small, tight-knit team of local bar and floor staff.
- Cellar Management: Maintain high standards of cellar cleanliness, line cleaning, and the care of traditional cask ales and draft beers.
- Event Coordination: Organise and host classic community events like weekly pub quizzes, live local music, charity fundraisers, and seasonal festivals.]
- Food & Beverage Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team to promote traditional pub food, Sunday roasts, and daily specials.
- Stock & Vendor Control: Order supplies, manage inventory, minimize waste, and maintain healthy profit margins with local breweries and suppliers.
- Financial Oversight: Oversee daily cash handling, cashing up, and basic bookkeeping duties.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce responsible service of alcohol, health and safety standards, and ensure the premises remain secure.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a pub or hospitality setting.
- Cask Ale Expertise: Proven knowledge of cellar management, specifically keeping and serving high-quality real ales.
- Licensing: Must hold a valid Personal Licence to sell alcohol.
- Personality: Outgoing, approachable, and passionate about community-focused hospitality.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work split shifts, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Local Connection: Knowledge of the local area or a genuine desirable
Pay: Up to £25,000.00 per year
