ISS is a leading service provider in the UK Fresh Produce sector. Since 2014, we have grown to operate four sites across Kent, employing over 1,300 colleagues. We are now looking for an experienced Packaging Manager to lead our packaging operations and ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and food safety are maintained across the site.
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Packaging Manager to take overall responsibility for the procurement, scheduling, storage and issue of all packaging materials on site. This role has full budget and stock management responsibility for direct packaging and transit materials, ensuring the business has the right materials available to meet production plans while maintaining accurate stock records and working within budget and stock targets.
The successful candidate will lead the Packaging Scheduling and Issuing teams, including the Print Room, driving performance, process accuracy, stock control, supplier communication, food safety and continuous improvement across the function.
Key responsibilities
· Lead and develop the Packaging Scheduling, Procurement and Issuing teams, ensuring strong performance and 100% plan availability.
· Manage packaging procurement activity, including supplier call-offs, purchase orders, tray and pallet hire/de-hire, tenders and supplier communications.
· Take ownership of packaging stock management, ensuring stock records are accurate, updated promptly and reconciled against the live system.
· Monitor stock lines, replenishment orders and sundry items to ensure full production plan availability within budget and stock targets.
· Prepare stock reports, investigate discrepancies, resolve errors and escalate issues where required.
· Ensure physical stock check cycles are completed, with anomalies investigated and reconciled in real time.
· Maintain BRC records relating to packaging materials and ensure all procedures support food safety, hygiene, quality and compliance standards.
· Act as ERP Business System Superuser for stock management processes, system accuracy and day-to-day live stock system management.
· Ensure KPIs are accurately documented, maintained and used to drive continuous improvement.
· Work in line with company policies, Health and Safety guidelines, legal requirements and industry best practice.
About you

· You will have strong attention to detail and take accountability for maintaining reliable stock data, processes and reporting.
· You will be a hands-on leader who can motivate, develop and support teams while holding high standards.
· You will communicate professionally with colleagues, suppliers, internal stakeholders and the wider business.
· You will lead by example, uphold company values and actively contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
· Full UK driving licence.
· Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in industry.
· Operational or manufacturing management experience within a fast-moving, customer-focused environment such as produce, FMCG, manufacturing or food.
· Proven experience implementing and delivering against plans.
· Strong internal and external stakeholder communication skills.
· Good knowledge of continuous improvement practices and applications.
· Demonstrable leadership experience in a multi-disciplinary, customer-focused environment.
· Comfortable being a hands-on operator as well as a manager.

Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
