Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to join our newly renovated and Ofsted registered three-bedded children’s residential home in Rainham, Essex. The home provides high-quality care and support for children aged 8–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
We are currently unable to offer sponsorships.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall operation of the children’s home, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, quality standards, and organisational policies.
- Promote a nurturing, therapeutic environment that supports the emotional, behavioural, educational, and social development of children and young people.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people through effective safeguarding practices, regular risk assessments, and robust care planning.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review personalised care plans tailored to each child’s individual needs and outcomes.
- Liaise with external agencies, including social workers, health professionals, education providers, and other stakeholders, to ensure coordinated and effective support for children and young people.
- Supervise, lead, and support staff team members, fostering a positive working environment characterised by strong leadership, accountability, and effective communication.
- Organise, monitor, and promote staff training and professional development to ensure staff have the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to deliver high-quality care.
- Oversee medication administration procedures to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance with relevant legislation, guidance, and healthcare regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to child welfare, incidents, care activities, and regulatory requirements, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Demonstrate a collaborative approach to working with the staff team and wider organisation, showing commitment, professionalism, and a strong work ethic, while recognising the demanding nature of residential childcare.
Required Skills & Experience
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification as required by regulation).
- Proven management experience within a children’s residential care setting, with a minimum of one to two years experience in a management role.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, quality standards, and safeguarding procedures relating to children’s social care.
- Experience of managing placement fees, local authority commissioning arrangements, and residential care budgets.
- Experience of tendering and bidding processes within the children’s residential care sector would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams effectively whilst responding appropriately to complex situations.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of care, safeguarding, and service quality.
- The Registered Manager must understand the demanding nature of residential childcare and be prepared to work flexibly, collaboratively, and proactively to meet the needs of the children, staff team, and service.
