Ambrosia Quality Food, a food distribution company is looking to recruit a HGV Driver Class 2 to join our Drivers team.
As a HGV Driver you will operate heavy goods vehicles to transport goods to customers, warehouses, distribution centres, or other national geographic destinations. You will be an important part of our team and will be expected to inspect your vehicle before the route to ensure timely delivery of goods in agreement with the related paperwork.
The role requires safe driving, timely deliveries, vehicle inspections reporting any issues or vehicle defects back to your line manager, and accurate record-keeping for legislative purposes while following all relevant traffic laws and company procedures upholding UK road laws and regulations.
Product knowledge is an important part of your role; you will receive training in this from your team leader which will include safe manual handling as we deliver a variety of items, with HGV drivers handling multiple pallets and heavy goods items. On deliveries you will maintain accurate delivery records, provide excellent customer service, receive payments and build good customer relationships.
Teamwork is also an important part of your role, and you will be expected to communicate with your colleagues in all department in a respectful and professional manner
Responsibilities/Duties
Arrive 10 minutes before shift
· Drive HGV vehicles safely and responsibly
· Deliver and collect goods according to scheduled routes
· Load and unload cargo when required
· Manual handling
· Follow health and safety procedures at all times
· Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects
· Maintain Cleanliness of vehicles
· Ensure loads are secured correctly before transport
· Carry out pre-route vehicle checks
· Follow planned delivery routes
· Comply with drivers' hours regulations and tachograph rules
Communicate with office any delays
· Check goods delivered with customer and get signature
· Receive payments needed and communicate these with the office and on your paperwork at the end of the shift
· Deliver all payments from previous day to the manager on shift.
· Communicate all route related information to the transport manager and the office to improve the routes
· Complete delivery notes, logbooks, and other transport documentation
· Maintain communication with transport managers and customers
· Follow the return instructions regarding the safe keeping of the returned products and the related paperwork
· Obtain delivery confirmations and signatures

Necessary Qualifications
· Fluent in English Language
· Full Clean UK License (3 Points Maximum)
· GCSE in maths and English (Grade C)
· Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
· Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
· Fork-lift driving license
· Basic Food Hygiene awareness
· Knowledge of Drivers hours rules and Tacho card use
· Knowledge if Infringements procedures
· Route planning experience
