Site Engineer – Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to resolve technical issues and respond to technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
- Set out construction works within specified tolerances, maintain dimensional control, and prepare setting-out sketches and certification.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules, identifying design clashes, discrepancies, and raising Requests for Information (RFIs) where required.
- Establish, maintain, and regularly verify project survey control and calibration of survey equipment, ensuring equipment registers and testing records are up to date.
- Support construction planning and programming to ensure engineering activities align with project schedules.
- Assist the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) by providing the information required for temporary works designs, checks, and implementation.
- Communicate construction information clearly to supervisors and operatives through sketches, drawings, and technical guidance.
- Inspect engineering materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and the Client's specifications.
- Produce accurate as-built drawings, quality records, and handover documentation in accordance with project requirements and agreed timescales.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure work is completed to the required quality standards, specifications, and level of workmanship.
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and proactively identify and report potential quality issues.
- Review, implement, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Request for Witness and Approval (RWA) procedures.
- Carry out quality inspections and maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, photographs, inspection records, and site diaries.
- Assist in collecting project performance data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including identifying and reporting reasons for variances.
- Support subcontractor installation activities and coordinate engineering interfaces where required.
- Prepare and issue engineering documentation, including Permits to Break Ground and quality assurance records.
- Ensure compliance with the Client's specifications, industry standards, statutory requirements, and project procedures, while providing technical support to engineers, supervisors, and project managers.
- Manage internal engineering resources, quality activities, and subcontractors where applicable.
- Produce and maintain all quality assurance documentation required for the successful delivery and handover of the project.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, consultants, the Client, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Work in accordance with the Company's Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety Management Systems, contributing to the achievement of project and business objectives.
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures, taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the role of Site Engineer as may reasonably be required by the Company.
Pay: Up to £65,000.00 per year
