Calf Rearer – Kingspool Holstein (Near Bristol)
Do you love working with animals and being part of a dedicated, welfare-focused team? Kingspool Holstein is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join us as a flexible full-time Calf Rearer.
Kingspool Holstein is home to over 800 high-yielding, high-welfare pedigree Holstein cows. We pride ourselves on putting cow welfare at the heart of everything we do and we are looking for a motivated individual who shares our passion for livestock to join our dedicated team.
The Role
We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Calf Rearer to take responsibility for the care of calves from birth through to weaning.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the future performance of the herd, with a strong focus on animal health, welfare, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor calf health and development, identifying and responding promptly to signs of illness or distress
- Feed milk, concentrates, and supplements in line with farm protocols
- Maintain clean, hygienic calf housing and feeding equipment
- Assist with routine health procedures, including vaccinations and weighing
- Accurately record calf treatments, growth and health data
- Work closely with farm management and veterinary teams to achieve excellent calf-rearing outcomes
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in calf rearing or livestock care preferred (training provided for the right candidate)
- Strong observation skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A genuine commitment to high standards of animal welfare
- Basic record-keeping and good communication skills
Working Hours & Benefits
- Minimum 35 hours per week, including every other weekend
- Flexible shifts – morning or afternoon options available to suit you
- Training and ongoing support provided
- Pay is aligned with UK minimum wage bands (18–20 and 21+). Exact rate discussed at interview.
