Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Welders Mate to support our fabrication and welding operations. The successful candidate will assist in preparing materials, handling hand and power tools, and supporting welders during various projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in welding and fabrication within a dynamic industrial environment. Responsibilities
- Assist welders with setup and preparation of materials for welding tasks, including sheet metal and fabrication projects
- Handle hand tools, power tools, and basic assembly equipment to support welding operations
- Support in the organisation and maintenance of welding areas, ensuring safety standards are adhered to
- Assisting in tack welding using basic MIG Welding skills
- Support with basic measurements and calculations using fundamental maths skills to ensure precision in assembly and fabrication tasks
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
- Support the inspection of completed work for quality assurance under supervision
Requirements
- Experience or familiarity with MIG welding is highly desirable
- Basic knowledge of welding techniques and standards
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and general fabrication equipment
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to assembly, sheet metal work, and general workshop practices
- Ability to perform basic maths calculations accurately for measurements and assembly tasks
- Prior experience with welding or fabrication environments is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Ideally have a level 2 welding qualification.
