The General Dental Council (GDC) are investing resources into improving their internal processes, including establishing panels of dental registrants to review existing processes, user-test new interventions, and discuss new or planned changes within the dental sector. The GDC have commissioned the University of Manchester to establish and coordinate the dental registrant panel for an initial period of two years. A research associate is required to take on the role of managing the panel, including recruitment of panel members, distributing activities to panel members on a regular basis, preparing reports for the GDC, and contribute to panel activities that align with the research associate’s skills. These activities may include surveys, interviews and focus groups with panel members.
The research associate will play a central role in both day-to-day management of the registrant panel, such as supporting panel member recruitment, management and engagement, as well as contributing to specific activities with panels members including data collection, analysis and reporting. Working closely with the principal investigator, the postholder will coordinate participant recruitment and communications, manage the secure panel database, organise and facilitate research activities including surveys, focus groups and workshops, and ensure that all activities are delivered in accordance with ethical, GDPR and project governance requirements.
They will also monitor panel diversity, participant engagement and project milestones, ensuring the panels remain representative, responsive and aligned with the GDC's strategic objectives. The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, experience of mixed-methods research, stakeholder engagement and project management, together with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver multiple concurrent workstreams.
