Structural Steel Welder / Fabricator
We are a small family run structural steel fabrication company. We are looking for a full time enthusiastic and hard working welder / fabricator to join our team. We deal with heavy gauge structural steels like portal frames and single / multi storey buildings. We sometimes do architectural work but this is a small percentage. We don't work with aluminium or stainless steel.
Desired Skills and qualities:
- The Candidate would ideally be time served and fully competent in fabrication and welding mild steel members. Welding is generally a minimum 6mm fillet, through to 15mm multi run. Butt welding is sometimes required.
- Knowledge of welding machine set up and parameters.
- Experience driving a fork truck and handling large beams.
- Experience with grinding, mag drilling, disc cutting.
- A good understanding of fabrication drawings.
- A certain amount of physical strength due to some manual handling and turning of beams in the workshop.
- An understanding on how to examine work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
Over time is often available.
