About us
We're a family-run farm near Croft. We grow vegetables and fruit trees, and we keep chickens, emus, sheep, goats, alpacas, two horses and several hives of bees. It's a working farm with a small, close team — and it's growing.
The role
We're looking for a Site Supervisor to be the person who keeps the place running day to day: eyes on the animals, eyes on the crops, and a firm hand on the rota so everyone knows where they're meant to be.
You do not need to have worked on a farm before. What matters far more is that you're practical, reliable, willing to get your hands dirty, and genuinely keen to learn how to look after animals — including the bees. We'll teach you the rest, and we'll pay for the training and tickets to do it properly.
A typical week
A day on the bees — inspecting hives, checking for health and stores, working through the season's jobs
A day on the animals — walking the stock, checking condition, feed, water, fencing and housing, and flagging anything that needs the vet
A day with the Director — walking the site together, reviewing what's been done and setting the agenda for the weeks ahead
The rest of the week hands-on — in the polytunnels and beds, on the trees, and wherever the work is that week
Throughout — building and managing the staff rota, including the cleaners and the chef, and making sure cover is in place
No two weeks look the same, and the seasons decide a lot of it.
What you'll be responsible for
Daily welfare checks across all livestock and the hives, and escalating concerns early
Supervising a small team of farm staff, plus the cleaners and chef — day-to-day direction, standards and timekeeping
Owning the staff rota: building it, keeping it covered, managing holidays and absence
Keeping the site safe, tidy and in good order — equipment, fencing, buildings, water and feed stores
Supporting planting, growing and harvesting across the vegetable beds and orchard
Keeping simple records: animal checks, hive inspections, jobs completed, hours worked
Working alongside the Director to plan the weeks and seasons ahead
About you
Essential
Willing and eager to learn animal husbandry and beekeeping from scratch — we'll train you
Comfortable outdoors in all weathers and happy with physical, hands-on work
Organised enough to run a rota and hold people to it
Able to lead a small team fairly and confidently — approachable, but clear
Reliable and trustworthy: animals depend on someone turning up
Available to work at least one Saturday or Sunday every week as part of a 5-days-over-7 pattern
Full UK driving licence
Nice to have (but not required)
Any previous experience with livestock, bees, horticulture or growing
Supervisory or team leader experience in any setting
Tractor, telehandler, first aid or spraying certificates
What we offer
£32,000 starting salary, with pay reviewed on performance
