Junior Sous Chef – INDidog Harbourside Restaurant
INDidog Harbourside Restaurant is an independent restaurant in the heart of Falmouth, Cornwall, known for local produce and food made with care and consistency. Our menus are vibrant and flavour-led, with a strong focus on quality, teamwork, and a positive kitchen culture.
We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This role will work closely with our Head Chef and Sous Chefs, supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen while developing leadership skills and helping to maintain the high standards we are known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chefs in daily kitchen operations
- Help lead kitchen sections and ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Assist in supervising and motivating the kitchen team
- Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and consistency
- Assist with menu development, preparation, and implementation
- Record, monitor, and help minimise food wastage
- Maintain INDidog brand standards, flavours, and consistency
- Support the training and development of junior kitchen team members
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are consistently met
- Take responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs when required
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie looking to progress, or existing Junior Sous Chef experience
- A genuine passion for quality food and local produce
- Calm, organised, and able to perform under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance
- Interest in menu development, costing, and waste reduction
- Ability to lead by example and support colleagues positively
- Reliable, hardworking, and proud of maintaining high standards
