Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support worker to join our team in providing support for 16-18 year old looked after children in a supported living setting. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing practical and emotional support to help these young individuals develop essential life skills and transition into independent living. Your role will involve building positive relationships, promoting their well-being, and empowering them to achieve their goals. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best possible care and support for these young individuals.
Job Requirements:
1. Experience and Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with young people in a care or support setting is not required But would be beneficial.
Atraining will be provided.
2. Writing Reports: Ability to write clear and concise reports on individual progress, incidents, and any concerns or observations. Strong written communication skills are essential for effective documentation.
3. Key Work Sessions: Conducting regular key work sessions with the young individuals, providing guidance, and assisting them with setting and achieving personal goals.
4. Safeguarding: Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to ensure the safety and welfare of the young individuals at all times, this will be helpful but training would be given.
5. Emotional Support: Providing emotional support to young individuals, actively listening to their concerns, and offering guidance and advice when needed.
6. Life Skills Development: Assisting young individuals in developing essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal care.
7. Collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and professionals involved in the care and support of the young individuals.
8. Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts, to meet the needs of the young individuals.
9. Empathy and Patience: Demonstrating empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude towards the young individuals, understanding their unique backgrounds and challenges.
10. Teamwork: Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
